Ardent Nursing Batch 2019

                    Ardent Capping and Pinning Ceremony

Capping and pinning ceremony for nursing students is all about honouring and celebrating half of their journey to becoming a nurse. Many nursing students anticipated the capping and pinning ceremony throughout their two years of rough nursing education. And now the most awaited time had arrived that signifies they have come up into another stage in their chosen vocation.

Students invited their family and friends to join them in celebration of this special event. The event with the theme “Keep Your Lamp Burning,” commenced at exactly one o’clock in the afternoon at the Philippine International Church (PIC), last October 20, 2016. The program started with an entrance of colors spearheaded by the AUP Master Guide which welcomes the Ardent Nursing Batch 2019.

UP professor, Dr. Fely Marilyn imparted a message with regards to the symbol of a nurses’ cap that encourages and ignites the hearts of these nursing students in the true sense and purpose of the profession that awaits them. She reminded them that being a nurse is a calling and a service motivated by the finest impulse of humanity, “to care for others even those different from ourselves.” She added that “It is not only a signal that you have arrived on a certain level but a symbol of commitment.” Nurses’ cap, as described by Dr. Marilyn is a crown of glory for it marks the achievement of these nursing students in surviving their two years of education.

Moreover, capping and pinning ceremonies aren’t just for students who dedicated themselves in earning their nursing degree but also for their loved ones and instructors to relish their accomplishments and sacrifices. This giving of love gifts to parents, sponsors and clinical instructors serves the climax of the event. You can see the gladness in the faces of each family as they take pictures with their beloved children in accomplishment.

“As a parent of a nursing student studying here in AUP, is a great struggle financially because it is expensive. Yet, it is also fulfilling seeing my daughter doing her part in reaching her dreamed profession. I am happy for her accomplishment noted that she reached the second level of her course. I am praying to God that He’ll bless us financially to sustain our student until she graduates,” says Larry Eyas.

It is not yet the end of their journey to being nurses of tomorrow. It has not been easy for these students and it's not going to be easier for the next coming years of their studies. They would encounter ups, downs, turns, and bumps in their student life like any other vocations. However, the Ardent Nursing Batch 2019 showed in this capping and pinning ceremony to keep the fire burning in their hearts full of devotion for service and commitment to the future and be Ardent for his people.
